Barack Obama Means Hope For Us

It’s getting hectic out there in the real world isn’t it. With the economy burning down before our eyes, our country engaged in three wars, and the most historical presidential race in our nation’s history going on it’s hard to keep a cool and level head. It takes a strong person to have their faith questioned, their patriotism questioned, their experience questioned, and even their race questioned on a daily basis and still keep that cool head and calm demeanor. That’s exactly how Barack Obama has remained ever since he busted on to the political scene as a serious presidential candidate, calm and cool. Barack Obama isn’t even the president, yet for the last few months he’s put his presidential swagger on display and the nation has taken notice.
Before Obama was even the democratic nominee he had to go head to head with a Clinton, one of the most popular names in our nation’s history. Barack Obama didn’t even blink as he edged out Hilary Clinton to earn the nomination. Still there were doubts from national media and even the streets. “I don’t think he’s tough enough to hang with McCain” was something I heard around my way along with “He’s inexperienced and untested”. A few months, speeches, debates, and crises later it is the “inexperienced” candidate that has looked and acted the part as president of the United States.
While his opponent has showed anger and poor judgment at the worst possible time, Obama has quite simply been more clutch. He’s been out hustling McCain on every front possible whether it be on the fund raising front, the getting out the vote front, the public speaking front, and even the strategy front. While the republican campaign has been going hard body at this guy saying he’s been “paling around with terrorists” and calling him a “socialist”, this guy hasn’t been shaken up one bit. Instead he’s been careful and precise about how he runs his campaign, which is keep on the issues that face you and me. He’s been the bigger man. Have you seen him heavily sighing or rolling his eyes at his opponent when they’re in the same room? No. All you’ve seen is that cool demeanor, that steady hand, that presidential swagger.
There are supposed to be record turn outs to the polls this election year, mainly because Obama has inspired so many young voters like myself. Young people have played key roles in past election simply by being too lazy to go to the polls and cast a vote, but that won’t happen this time around. Young people can really sense change, they can actually SEE change coming to their country just by looking at who is running. The first African-American presidential candidate in history. HISTORY! It’s not the only reason a record number of blacks are going to be showing up to the polls, but it’s a big reason. The opportunity to be apart of history rarely comes along and the youngsters want to be apart of it.
Why am I voting for Obama? It’s really simple. I think Barack Obama would be a better president than John McCain. From what I’ve seen and heard over the last year or so, I’m convinced that this man will make life easier for us as a nation. One thing people don’t seem to realize is Barack Obama has the better team around him. He’s got Bill Clinton’s people around him, he’s got Warren Buffet’s support, he has some of the most respected REPUBLICANS in the game jumping ship and crossing over to his side because they realize that this man is going to help us rise from the rubble that the last administration put us under. I’m not only voting for Obama, I’m voting for the dream team he’s put together.
They said he wasn’t tough enough to take on the more experienced candidate, and he’s on his way to a landslide victory. They questioned his faith in God and said he wasn’t a real American, yet God has shined on him the most and put him on track to be the president of the United States. They called him “that one” and “Arab”, yet all he does is dusts his shoulders off and keeps it moving forward. Barack Obama means more than just change and progress to me. To me Barack Obama means Hope. Hope that we won’t need to hate anymore. Hope that we won’t need to struggle anymore. Hope that dreams do come true.
Barack Obama is Change. Barack Obama is Progress. Barack Obama is Hope, and I Hope we will help elect him as the next president of the United States.
