Totally random. Comme des Garçons will launch an exclusive collection in honor of The Beatles — which consists of 10 travel bags, five t-shirts and four shirts. Apple Corps’ (Beatles legacy and musical catalogue) only stipulation was no leather be used in the collection, given the antileather stance of Sir Paul McCartney, an advocate of vegetarianism and animal rights. The 10 large-format styles are made in Japan to high-quality standards, using embossed polyurethane or printed PVC and detailed with metal grommets, embossing and cords.

According to WWD; “The collection will be priced from around $115 for a T-shirt up to $860 for the most expensive bag, The Beatles/Comme des Garçons label is to launch Nov. 20 in Tokyo at the Trading Museum, a new Comme store concept in the Gyre building. Dover Street Market, Kawakubo’s multibrand emporium in London, is to host the British launch on Nov. 27, with a further commercial rollout planned for 2010.”

Artek was founded in 1935 by four young idealists: Alvar and Aino Aalto, Maire Gullichsen and Nils- Gustav Hahl. Better known as one of the most innovative contributors to modern design, Artek presents their latest venture–STANDARD, a new fragrance created in collaboration with Comme des Garçons.

This project was conceived in the pleasant atmosphere of the first Artek and COMME des GARÇONS collaboration in 2007 at CDG’s Dover Street Market and Aoyama stores. The result is a unique product for Artek through an invaluable partenship [sic] with an organisation which is always at the forefront of cultural reinvention. The visual aesthetics of the object- STANDARD fragrance- were developed to stand along with Artek’s praticular ideology and products’.

The fragrance will launch at Dover Street Market in London in October, and RS1.

Comme des Garcons, 10 Corso Como designed this minimal messenger bag produced by Yoshida. The bag was made from Cordura material and was designed for a more affordable consumer. The final outcome is well executed, simplicity at its best.
